The term "anxiety" describes an unexpected, intense, and panicked feeling of trepidation and panic. Exams, interview processes, public speaking, and other typical social settings can cause anxiety, and these feelings are accepted as normal. Short-term anxiety is the kind that lasts only a short while—maybe for an hour, for a day, or for a week—and then fades away. Anxiety symptoms include but are not limited to trembling hands, profuse perspiration, palpitations, headaches, urinary retention or diarrhea, and twitching muscles.
